The Big 6 - Explained

The Big 6™ is a simple, science-backed lymphatic activation method developed by Dr. Perry Nickelston that targets six key drainage points in the body to boost fluid flow, reduce inflammation, and enhance detoxification in under five minutes.

Why Lymphatic Drainage?

The lymphatic system plays a crucial role in maintaining fluid balance, immune function, and detoxification. It works to remove waste products and excess fluid from tissues, which is essential for reducing inflammation and improving overall health.

Scientific Backing:

  • Enhanced Fluid Drainage: Research shows that lymphatic drainage can help reduce fluid retention and swelling. A study published in the Lymphatic Research and Biology journal highlights that lymphatic massage significantly improves fluid balance in the body. [Source: Lymphatic Research and Biology, 2020]
  • Reduced Inflammation: Lymphatic drainage is known to reduce inflammation by facilitating the removal of inflammatory substances from tissues. A review in the Journal of Clinical Physiology supports this, indicating that lymphatic stimulation helps manage inflammatory responses. [Source: Journal of Clinical Physiology, 2018]
The Big 6™ Routine

Our signature Big 6™ lymphatic drainage involves targeted techniques at six key points: collarbone, side of the neck (C1/C2), pectoral/axillary area, abdomen, inguinal (groin crease), and popliteal (behind knees). Each point is massaged using circles, rubbing, and tapping, followed by a 20-second bounce on your heels. This routine enhances lymphatic flow and prepares your body for optimal performance.
Benefits Before an Ice Bath:
  • Improved Circulation: Lymphatic drainage before an ice bath helps improve blood flow and oxygenate tissues, preparing them for the cold therapy.
  • Enhanced Recovery: By reducing inflammation and fluid retention, the Big 6™ routine maximises the benefits of the ice bath, leading to faster recovery and reduced muscle soreness. [Source: Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies, 2021]
Benefits Before Reformer Pilates:

  • Increased Flexibility: Reducing fluid buildup and improving circulation through lymphatic drainage can enhance your flexibility and range of motion, allowing you to get the most out of your Pilates class.
  • Enhanced Performance: A well-prepped lymphatic system supports better muscle engagement and overall performance during Reformer Pilates, leading to more effective workouts. [Source: Integrative Medicine Research, 2019]
At Embrace Wellness Haven, our goal is to ensure that every session, whether it’s an invigorating ice bath or a transformative Pilates class provides you with the maximum benefits. By incorporating the Big 6™ lymphatic drainage into your routine, we aim to reduce inflammation, boost recovery, and enhance your overall wellness experience.
