This is called stress urinary incontinence, and it's the most common kind. It happens when the pelvic floor can't brace fast or hard enough as pressure rises in your tummy. It's also where the evidence for Emsella is strongest.

Sound familiar?

  • Crossing your legs before you sneeze
  • Avoiding trampolines, skipping or running
  • Pads "just in case" at the gym
  • Kegels that you're never sure you're doing right

How Emsella helps

Each 28 minute session produces thousands of strong pelvic floor contractions, far more than you could do on your own, with no guesswork about technique. Most people complete six sessions over about three weeks.

What the research shows

Emsella is FDA cleared in the US for the treatment of male and female urinary incontinence. In a 2025 randomised trial of mothers with stress leaking, women who had Emsella plus pelvic floor exercises showed a reduction in measured leakage, while the group having exercises with a sham (switched off) chair did not.

Results vary from person to person. Many clients notice change within the first few sessions, and results are best maintained with ongoing strength work and the occasional top up.

Urge incontinence, or an overactive bladder, is that "I need to go right now" feeling. It often shows up with key-in-the-door moments, frequent trips to the toilet and waking at night.

How Emsella helps

Strong, well timed pelvic floor contractions help calm the bladder's urge signal and give you more time to get there. Emsella trains those muscles for you, and it's often used for urge and mixed leaking as well as stress leaking.

Worth knowing

  • Urgency can have other causes, like infections, some medications or bladder irritants such as caffeine. If symptoms are new or you see blood, see your GP first.
  • Simple bladder habits work beautifully alongside Emsella, and we'll talk you through them.

Pregnancy and birth ask a lot of your pelvic floor, and it can take months or years to feel the effects. Leaking, heaviness or feeling "not quite the same" is common, but it isn't something you just have to live with.

How we can help

  • Emsella to rebuild pelvic floor strength and control, fully clothed
  • Pregnancy and postnatal friendly Reformer Pilates to rebuild your core
  • A free assessment to work out what your body needs

Before you start

  • We'll wait until you've had your postnatal check and been cleared for exercise
  • Emsella isn't used during pregnancy
  • We'll also check for things like metal implants near the pelvis or a pacemaker

A prolapse diagnosis can feel confronting, but it's common, especially after childbirth and through menopause. Here's how Emsella supports you.

What you might be feeling

  • A heavy, dragging or "something's falling" sensation, often worse at the end of the day
  • A bulge or pressure in the vagina
  • Feeling like your bladder or bowel doesn't fully empty
  • Discomfort with exercise, lifting or intimacy
  • Leaking when you cough, sneeze or exercise

How Emsella helps

Your pelvic floor muscles act like a supportive hammock under your bladder, uterus and bowel. Emsella delivers thousands of deep pelvic floor contractions in a 28 minute session while you sit fully clothed, rebuilding the strength and tone of that hammock.

It's a non-surgical, no downtime way to strengthen the muscles that support your pelvic organs, so you can feel more supported day to day.

What the research shows

A 2025 study looked at women with a moderate (stage 2) bladder prolapse plus stress leaking. After six Emsella sessions:

64%of women in the Emsella group reached stage 0, meaning no measurable prolapse

Women also reported better symptom and quality of life scores, and most were back to their usual routine within days. Like any muscle, your pelvic floor keeps its strength best with top up sessions and ongoing pelvic floor work.

Who it suits

  • Mild to moderate (stage 1 or 2) prolapse
  • Women who want to avoid or delay surgery, or aren't a surgical candidate
  • Alongside a pessary or physio program
  • Women who struggle to feel or activate their pelvic floor on their own
Getting the right support: every prolapse is different. If you haven't had yours assessed yet, or it sits at or beyond the vaginal opening, we'll suggest a check with your GP, gynaecologist or pelvic health physiotherapist, and we're happy to work alongside them. Bring your prolapse grade or stage to your consult if you know it.

We only offer treatments with credible research behind them. Here's the clinical evidence from BTL, the makers of Emsella, along with further published studies.

Clinical evidence from BTL, the makers of Emsella

BTL's clinical summary, "HIFEM procedure in the treatment of pelvic floor muscles", explains how Emsella works on the pelvic floor and what it looks like on ultrasound:

  • Ultrasound evidence: diagnostic ultrasound shows the pelvic floor muscles and bladder relaxed and loosened before treatment, then stimulated and lifted by Emsella.
  • Stronger than a Kegel: Emsella triggers supramaximal contractions, which are stronger than you can achieve voluntarily, with thousands in a single 28 minute session.
  • Muscle re-education: treatment protocols gradually increase intensity to rebuild strength and help you identify, isolate and control your pelvic floor.

FAQs

Everything you need to know about Emsella, pelvic floor function, and how we support you through your journey

EMSELLA is a non-invasive treatment that uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM®) technology to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. It’s backed by clinical research for urinary incontinence and is used to support intimate wellness for both women and men.

In a single 28-minute session, EMSELLA delivers thousands of strong pelvic floor contractions, far more than you could achieve on your own. It’s designed to help:

  • Improve bladder control
  • Rebuild weakened pelvic floor muscles
  • Support sexual confidence and sensation
  • Provide postnatal and post-menopausal support

All of this happens while you’re fully clothed, comfortably seated and relaxed.

EMSELLA uses HIFEM® technology to reach the deep pelvic floor muscles and trigger contractions far stronger and more frequent than you can do on your own.

Kegels take time, discipline and correct technique, and many people find it hard to know if they’re doing them right. EMSELLA takes out the guesswork by working the whole pelvic floor for you. Unlike intravaginal devices or surgery, EMSELLA is:

  • Completely non-invasive
  • Comfortable, with no needles or anaesthetic
  • Free of downtime or recovery
  • Backed by peer-reviewed clinical studies

It also works well alongside pelvic floor exercises and physiotherapy.

EMSELLA may suit:

  • Women of any age experiencing urinary incontinence or intimate discomfort
  • Women recovering after childbirth
  • Men with stress or urge incontinence, including after prostate surgery
  • Anyone who struggles to engage their pelvic floor effectively

Your free consultation is the best way to find out if it’s right for you.

EMSELLA is FDA cleared and medical CE-marked, and has been studied in multiple clinical trials for urinary incontinence. It isn’t suitable for everyone, for example during pregnancy or if you have certain metal implants or an electronic device such as a pacemaker. We’ll go through your health history and how EMSELLA works in detail at your consultation.

Most people find it very comfortable. You’ll feel tingling and strong pelvic floor contractions, a bit like an intense pelvic floor workout, while you sit and relax fully clothed. The intensity is adjusted to suit you, and at your consultation you’re welcome to try the chair for yourself.

None. You can get straight back to your usual routine after each session, with no preparation or recovery time needed.

Everyone is different, and results depend on things like your age, symptoms and overall health. Many clients notice a difference within the first few sessions, and results typically continue to build over the following weeks.

Many clients maintain their results for months after completing their treatment series. We recommend a check-in a few months after your sessions to see whether a top up would help. Keeping up your pelvic floor exercises and a healthy lifestyle is the best way to maintain your results long term.

We’re seeing great results with our clients here at Embrace, and EMSELLA is supported by a growing body of published clinical research. You can explore the key studies in “The facts and the studies” at the top of this page, and read real stories from our clients below.

A course of Emsella can cost upwards of $2,000 at some clinics. At Embrace Wellness Haven, we’re committed to making this therapy more accessible, with competitive package pricing and flexible payment options.

It’s also worth weighing up the ongoing cost of managing leaks. Pads and incontinence products can add up to hundreds of dollars a year, on top of the impact on your confidence and quality of life.

You’ll find our current packages and pricing above, or book a free consultation and we’ll help you choose the right option.

Before discovering Emsella at Embrace Wellness Haven, I was at a breaking point. I couldn’t get out of bed in the morning without having an accident. I was wearing incontinence panties every day and avoiding going out because I was terrified of losing control in public. It wasn’t just physical, it was emotionally draining. I started to withdraw from the things I loved, and the sadness that came with that was hard to put into words. I started Emsella treatment with the Team at Embrace managing my expectations, knowing I might not feel any difference until the second or third session and hoping for any improvement at all. But after just one session, I could already make it to the toilet in the morning without an accident. After my second treatment, I stopped having accidents altogether. And by the time I completed all six sessions, I no longer needed any pads or protection. I was 100% better. Emsella didn’t just fix a problem. It gave me my confidence back. My freedom. My life. I’m sharing this because I know there are so many others out there living in silence, feeling like this is just something they have to accept. You don’t. There is hope, and it works. Thank you, Embrace. From the bottom of my heart. C.D. 70 Years Young, Perth

Before starting Emsella, I was quietly struggling with a loss of control that left me feeling inadequate and disconnected. It affected my confidence and how I saw myself, not just physically, but emotionally too. After a few sessions, I began to notice subtle yet powerful changes. I felt stronger, more in control, and more grounded. By the end of the treatment plan, it wasn’t just about improvement, it was about rediscovering a part of myself I thought I’d lost. Emsella has given me back a sense of confidence and wellbeing I didn’t think was possible. I’m truly grateful for Emsella for creating a treatment where healing feels possible. K.T 52 Australia

Watching someone I love struggle in silence was heartbreaking. The physical challenges were one thing, but the emotional toll, the loss of confidence, the constant fear of accidents, was devastating. She felt trapped, and I felt helpless. Then came Emsella. Session by session, I watched her come back to life. With each small win, getting through the morning without an accident, going out without fear, I saw her reclaim her freedom and joy. By the end, she was 100% better. No more pads. No more fear. Just relief, confidence, and lightness. That experience changed everything for me. It’s why I’m so passionate about making this treatment available to more people. Because I know what it can do. And I know there are so many others still suffering in silence, thinking this is just their new normal. It doesn’t have to be. Michele
