At Embrace, we offer full-spectrum infrared saunas — but what does that actually mean, and how does it compare to a traditional sauna?

Let’s break it down

🔥 Traditional Saunas heat the air around you, typically reaching 70–100°C. Your body warms up by sitting in the hot environment, and you start to sweat as your core temperature gradually rises. While effective, the intense heat can feel overwhelming for some, especially those with cardiovascular or respiratory sensitivities.

🌈 Full-Spectrum Infrared Saunas, on the other hand, use light wavelengths — near, mid, and far-infrared — to gently heat your body directly, not the surrounding air. Temperatures are lower (typically 45–60°C), but the heat penetrates up to 4cm beneath the skin, promoting a deeper sweat at a lower temperature.

Backed by Science:

  • Detoxification: Infrared promotes sweating at a cellular level, helping release heavy metals and toxins more effectively than traditional heat alone (Sun et al., J Occup Med Toxicol, 2011).
  • Pain Relief: Studies show infrared wavelengths improve blood flow and reduce inflammation, making it ideal for muscle recovery, arthritis, and fibromyalgia (Clin Rheumatol, 2009).
  • Skin & Circulation: Mid and far-infrared increase skin elasticity, support collagen production, and improve circulation — a natural glow booster! (Photodermatol Photoimmunol Photomed, 2006).
  • Heart Health: Unlike the sharp spike in heart rate in traditional saunas, infrared produces a more moderate cardiovascular response — shown to improve blood pressure and vascular function with regular use (J Cardiol, 2010).

In short:
Infrared is gentler, deeper, and more efficient — a modern evolution of an ancient practice.
